Consultant Psychedelic Therapist
The Parsons Research Center for Psychedelic Healing conducts clinical trials of
psychedelic-assisted therapies for a range of indications with civilians and veterans. Our
research takes place at our Center on the upper west side of Manhattan and the James J
Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx. This position will provide therapists with the
opportunity to gain clinical experience in the provision of psychedelic therapy (e.g., MDMA,
psilocybin) and contribute to the development of best practice in psychedelic therapy in a
rigorous research context.
Responsibilities:
• Function as individual or co-therapist for patients engaging in psychedelic-assisted
therapies, including preparation, treatment and integration sessions
• Participate as member of research team, including completion of study-related
documentation, attending relevant research meetings and trainings
• Participate in clinical supervision meetings with mentors and peers
• Follow protocol and operational requirements for each study
• Work collaboratively with Center team, including clinical and research staff
Skills and Experience:
• Completion of a psychedelic assisted therapy training program
• 5+ years of experience as a licensed clinician (e.g., PhD, PsyD, MD, LCSW) with NYS
licensure
• Excellent therapeutic, interpersonal, and communication skills
• High standards of integrity and ethics
• Attention to detail and documentation with accountability and compliance with
required procedures
• Flexibility, collaborative stance, able to adapt to changing procedures and context
• Able to work in a team and independently
Desired Experience:
• Experience conducting psychedelic-assisted therapy or working with patients in
non-ordinary states of consciousness
• Expertise in PTSD and trauma-related conditions
• Knowledge of GCP (Good Clinical Practice) and GDP (Good Documentation
Practice)
Work location: All dosing sessions and many other sessions require therapists to be onsite;
some preparation and integration sessions, and some meetings and trainings, may be
conducted remotely. When travel to either site is required, the consultant isrequired to
cover their travel time and costs.
Compensation:
$200 per hour for clinical hours, administrative and documentation time related to clinical
work
$75 per hour for required clinical, operational, and other mandatory meetings
