Founded in 2007, the OPEN Foundation is the leading nonprofit organisation in the Netherlands and Europe dedicated to advancing psychedelic science and therapies. About the role
As the Marketing & Communications Lead, you will be responsible for developing and executing the marketing and communication strategy across OPEN’s key initiatives: the ICPR conference, ADEPT training programme, and community programs. This part-time role (20-28 hours/week) is ideal for a purpose-driven professional who enjoys and excels at overseeing projects from strategy to execution, and who’s passionate about helping psychedelic science flourish, and communicating in a balanced and science-oriented way.
You’ll collaborate with the wider team and direct freelancers, volunteers, and contractors across marketing, content, design, and communications. Your work will directly support OPEN’s visibility, community engagement, and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, develop, and implement effective marketing strategies for OPEN Foundation’s key initiatives:
ICPR
ADEPT training programme
OPEN’s community membership and events
Collaborate with the team to create educational resources (newsletters, social media posts, blogs…) in line with OPEN’s mission
Maintain a consistent and aligned tone of voice, messaging, and brand identity
Coordinate contractors, volunteers, and interns working on marketing-related projects
Track and report on performance across all platforms (web, email, socials)
Create visual content using Canva and ensure strong, coherent aesthetics
Manage OPEN’s marketing tech stack (WordPress, MailerLite, Coda, etc.)
Who are we looking for?
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of professional experience in marketing and communications, including project/team management
Proven track record with:
Email marketing
Social media management (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter/X)
Copywriting for newsletters, websites, and campaigns
WordPress
Graphic design
Ability to plan and flexibly prioritise across multiple parallel projects
Comfortable in a dynamic environment, able to switch efficiently between tasks and adapt to shifting priorities
Strong understanding of digital engagement strategies, gathering and interpreting data (Google Analytics, newsletter insights, social metrics)
Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Based in the Netherlands (one day per week in OPEN office)
Advanced understanding of successful digital marketing: strategy, traffic channels (SEO and ads), content, lead generation, funnels, conversion, analytics, tracking, email marketing, social media, UI/UX, etc
Project and team management skills
Bonus
Interdisciplinary knowledge in psychedelic science, therapy, culture, and policy
Fluency in Dutch
Experience in working together with volunteers
Based in or near Amsterdam
