Job Summary:
The Raison Lab at the University of Wisconsin–Madison Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Psychedelic Clinical Research Nurse to support studies of psilocybin-assisted interventions. The nurse in this role will collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, facilitators, and research staff to ensure participant safety through IV placement and management, clinical monitoring, and oversight of study procedures. Because study drugs are administered while participants are asleep, this position requires overnight shifts at the Wisconsin Sleep Clinic, including weekends. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong clinical skills, attention to detail, familiarity with research practices, and a compassionate, professional approach to working with participants in sensitive clinical settings.
Additional Information:
- Work Schedule: Up to 12–14 hours of coverage during weekend overnight shifts (typically Saturdays, with potential for weekday shifts in the future), averaging twice per month.
- This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
- This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is committed to basic and clinical research that furthers the understanding and development of new treatments for patients with mental illness, training the next generation of leaders, and providing excellent patient care to a broad range of patients.
Compensation:
The minimum starting pay rate for the position is $40 per hour; negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; required by start date of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in venous access and IV placement, including IV management and patient monitoring.
- Prior experience or demonstrated familiarity with clinical research procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and professional approach to working with patients in clinical settings.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
Education:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
