We are seeking a passionate Registered Dietitian to join our collaborative healthcare team. This role combines clinical nutrition expertise with personalized coaching to help patients achieve sustainable health outcomes. The ideal candidate will have experience working in clinical settings and a strong background in motivational interviewing, goal setting, and behavior change strategies.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Nutrition Services
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional and lifestyle assessments for patients with diverse medical conditions including diabetes, weight management needs, including nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and sleep habits
- Develop individualized nutrition care plans based on medical history, laboratory values, medications, and patient preferences
- Provide medical nutrition therapy in accordance with evidence-based practice guidelines
- Document patient encounters thoroughly in electronic health records and communicate findings with healthcare team members
- Coaching & Behavioral Support
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to support patient behavior change and goal achievement
- Collaborate with patients to establish realistic, measurable nutrition and lifestyle goals
- Provide ongoing coaching support through follow-up appointments, check-ins, and progress monitoring
- Develop and implement group education programs and workshops on nutrition topics
- Create personalized educational materials and meal planning resources
- Team Collaboration
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care
- Provide nutrition expertise and recommendations to support treatment plans developed by the healthcare team
- Communicate effectively with referring providers regarding patient progress and recommendations
- Patient Education & Community Outreach
- Conduct individual and group nutrition education sessions
- Develop and present community health programs and workshops
- Stay current with nutrition research and translate findings into practical patient guidance
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in health education, public health, nutrition, exercise science, psychology, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Certification in health coaching, lifestyle medicine, or related field (e.g., Certified Health Education Specialist, Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), etc.)
- 4+ years of experience in health coaching, lifestyle intervention, or related field
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based approaches to nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and behavior change
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build rapport and motivate clients
- Experience with motivational interviewing and behavior change techniques
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse populations
- Proficiency with electronic health records and standard office software
Working Conditions
- Combination of in-person and virtual client interactions
- May require occasional evening or weekend hours to accommodate client schedules
- Potential travel to community sites or partner organizations
